Toronto co-working space with many locations wants you to use their desks for free

Most big cities have a Starbucks on practically every corner, and one Toronto-based company is on a mission to make the same thing true about their co-working offices. Imagine popping into your flexible office just down the street, renting a desk for an hour or two of solid work, and then going on with your day — that’s what LAUFT plans to make possible for remote workers all over Toronto, Canada, and beyond.

According to Inc. Magazine, the average worker is only productive for around three hours during an eight-hour workday. That’s where the convenience of LAUFT comes in, by letting you rent a desk for $5 an hour and only for as long as you need it.

All of the desks are outfitted with plugs to charge your devices and a padlocked storage cubby where you can stash your things while you run out for lunch. Plus, you’ll have access to amenities like a printer, private rooms for your Zoom calls, and a coffee station.

In an effort to inspire remote workers to use their spaces, LAUFT is giving away $100 worth of credits, equivalent to 20 hours of free use of their desks. The credits are automatically applied to your account through this link when you sign up.

There are several existing locations around Toronto, the GTA, and southern Ontario in cities as far north as Barrie. By December 2023, there will be over 200 LAUFT locations in Canada and worldwide.

The massive flagship location is located on Fairbank Ave in the Castlefield Design District in Toronto’s northwest end.

There are also LAUFT locations at Burlington Centre, Vaughan Mills, Upper Canada Mall, and soon-to-be spaces at Shops of Don Mills, Scarborough Town Centre, and downtown Toronto’s Metro Centre.

Choosing your nearest location and booking a desk are all done through the app ahead of time, so you can get straight to work when you arrive.

Seems like it’s only a matter of time before the “Starbucks of space” starts taking over the world.
