We love our summer festivals here in Toronto! This weekend, the Toronto Chinatown Festival is making a comeback for two jam-packed days of delicious eats, activities, and cultural performances.

This annual event is among the most popular in the city, bringing in more than 250,000 visitors every year!

This year’s festival theme is called “Flaming Phoenix: Rebirth & Uprising,” after the rare immortal bird in Chinese mythology that symbolizes strength and is an omen of harmony.

The phoenix has been chosen to represent the Chinatown Festival this year to celebrate the rebirth of the city after tough times.

Like last year, the event will take over a stretch of Spadina Avenue to accommodate all who are eager to take part in the festivities.

Programming and performances will take place on two separate stages — BMO Stage at 222 Spadina Avenue and TD Stage at Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street West.

Visitors can expect to enjoy the traditional Dragon & Lion Dances, as well as magic shows, live music concerts, Kung-Fu performances, and Chinese instrument shows.

Prepare to eat your way through the lineup of vendors selling multicultural street food from countries all over Asia. Bring your appetite!

And if you’re feeling lucky, you can join the lucky draw and play games for a chance to win prizes.

It’s going to be a weekend full of fun as we celebrate the Chinese community, culture, and heritage in our beautiful city.
