Feel the magic and wonders of the holidays at one of Toronto’s most popular neighborhoods and its beloved tree lighting ceremony. The exciting experience will also bring a free outdoor concert. Here’s what to know.

Kick off the holidays with the exciting return of Holiday Magic on November 25th. The Bloor-Yorkville BIA welcomes all to enjoy the Christmas spirit with its tree lighting ceremony taking place on Cumberland Street and at the Village of Yorkville Park.

This year’s event will be hosted by award-winning Singer and TV Host, Keshia Chante and includes a live performance from five-time JUNO Award-winning Canadian Jazz singer and songwriter Matt Dusk.

Expect to sing along to holiday classics like “Let it Snow,” “Jingle Bells,” and “White Christmas.” Juno-Nominated, Toronto-based singer-songwriter and producer, Barbra Lica will be opening for Dusk and will perform their new single “Rocking Rudolf”.

As for the annual “Flick the Switch” Lighting Ceremony, attendees will see over 130 trees shine bright throughout the season.

“Bloor-Yorkville is thrilled to ignite the holiday season with the return of Holiday Magic, a spectacular display of lights and music that fills the neighbourhood with Holiday cheer. It’s a time when our community comes together to celebrate the spirit of the season while also supporting and raising funds for the Canadian Foundation of Aids Research,” said Briar de Lange, Executive Director of the Bloor-Yorkville BIA.

During the holidays, up until December 31, those who visit Yorkville will see the neighbourhood embrace the holiday spirit with strolling carolers dressed in Victorian-era costumes on select weekends, along with festive green and red-lit Urban Campfire Benches on Bloor Street.

Expect the carolers on:

  • December 2nd and 3rd from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • December 8th from 12 PM to 3 PM, December 9th and 10th from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • December 15th from 12 PM to 3 PM, December 16th and 17th from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • December 22nd from 12 PM to 3 PM, and December 23rd from 1 PM to 4 PM

The city will officially transform into a winter wonderland thanks to all the holiday events kicking off this week. Mark your calendars because this is an event you won’t want to miss.
