Toronto-based company says their 4-day work week has doubled their success

More often than not, the weekend flies by so quickly that it feels like it’s over before it even starts. This Toronto-based recruitment company is on a mission to change that.

The Leadership Agency’s 4-day work week experiment turned out to be so successful that the company has since made it a permanent thing, without cutting back vacation days or salaries, and without increasing the number of working hours per day.

They say that a 3-day weekend is not only possible but even beneficial for businesses and their employees.

“We started the 4-day work week in 2020 not having any idea what to expect from it or how it would play out. Here’s what we did; we didn’t overthink it. As a result, our profitability and success has doubled 200%,” the company announced on Instagram in July.

“This is the future of work,” they wrote. “If someone asked us if The Leadership Agency would ever go back to a 5-day work week, the answer is simple. No.”

In an interview with CTV Toronto, The Leadership Agency’s CEO Jamie Savage said she decided to implement the 4-day work week a year ago after noticing that employees seemed burnt out.

“The truth is that it was instantly impactful on our business. The immediate impact was their wellbeing,” said Savage.

With the freedom to use their extra day off to support their mental and physical health, Savage said her 9 employees are more productive, happier, and most importantly, aren’t jumping ship to work for other companies.

Her message to other business owners out there is that if it can be done, the benefits of a 4-day work week outweigh the risks.
