If you’re in the mood for a glass of wine from Sicily or Greece, we’ve got great news for you. Top Drop’s annual tasting event is bringing a selection of 40 international wineries to The Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre this May.

Prepare your tastebuds for the familiar flavours of Champagne, Barolo, and Napa — and get excited to take some risks, too! There are a ton of international options that might just surprise you.

Their tasting event features dozens of terroir-focused wineries and the people that bring the wine to (literal) fruition. For those of us who are not fluent in wine, terroir refers to the environment (namely the soil, topography, and climate) the grapes were grown in.

The organizers of Top Drop firmly believe in showcasing wineries with sustainable farming and honest vinicultural practices. In other words, you won’t see any wine bottles with a “vintage” label smacked on the front unless the grapes really were grown in accordance with the times.

Rather than have a dedicated area for regional tables, Top Drop will integrate them throughout the room. That way, guests can peruse the tables and learn more about each winery & region they visit.

So, how does it work? Each table will pair up with a local sommelier, who will assist guests with their wine selection.

In addition to handcrafted wine, Top Drop also brings together selections of the best craft beer, cider, and gourmet food from around the globe. So there will be plenty to drink and eat if wine isn’t your vibe!

The tasting was such a hit in past years, that they’ve expanded the event to two days. Tickets are available for Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th for around $140 each. With all the great wine and gourmet eats, it’s definitely worth splurging on!
