New list highlights the top road trip destinations from Vancouver

It might just be starting, but we’re already trying to plan our mini-vacations for the year. If you’re in the same boat, it could be time to check out a list of the top “drive-to destinations” from Vancouver for 2022. The list comes from Vrbo, which looked at rental demand throughout 2021.

According to the report, Sechelt on BC’s Sunshine Coast is the the top drive-to destinations from Vancouver for this year. We’re kind of cocking our heads about this pick, because you do still need a ferry to actually get to the island- just driving to it is impossible, unless you’ve got some sort of car/boat hybrid.

The same goes for the second pick- Victoria. Once again, those hoping to travel to BC’s capital will have a very hard time getting there by car alone. And listen, we know that the rationale here is probably along the lines of “well, you stay in your car on the ferry”, but even still we’re a little surprised, especially when they come before the next pick.

Which is, you guessed it, Whistler! Here’s the pick we fully stand behind, as this mountain town has long been a must-visit weekend destination during both the summer and winter months. And while it’s the furthest away from Vancouver, it actually takes the least amount of time to get to. Because, you know, you don’t have to take a ferry to get there.

Even if we’re a little skeptical of the criteria here, there’s no denying that this roundup does reflect some of our favourite destinations around Vancouver. Of course, for those looking for something winter-specific, we can’t help but recommend our list of the top ski resorts around the province.
