Entering a local Canadian Tim Hortons for your morning Double Double, it may not look like a spot that you’d frequent late in the evening with some friends. Or that the Tim Hortons patio would be one of the busiest on a block on a Wednesday night. But that’s the case at some global Tim Hortons locations, like one in Dubai.

Let’s backtrack a bit. Tim Hortons was founded in Canada back in 1964, and it is actually the third largest coffee brand globally, according to the company. It has over 5,500 locations worldwide across 13 countries.

In the UAE, there are currently 86 Tim Hortons locations, 37 of which are in Dubai. We happened to come across the Timmie at The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence. And to say that we were surprised by how busy it was could be an understatement.

First of all, the location is huge. It spans two floors, and has a large outdoor seating area – which was packed.

And of course, the menu is quite different.

In terms of menu items, the Tim Hortons location had a selection of baked goods like carrot cake, strawberry cheesecake, apple crumble, and a pistachio milk cake. It also had apple crumble and red velvet muffins!

There was a Zaatar croissant, which is something we certainly haven’t seen in Canada.

As for donuts, we don’t even know where to start. Pistachio dip, Kit Kat, Lotus Biscoff, and Nutella were donuts we wanted to take home. They cost 8 AED, which is about $2.95 per donut.

They also had Tims Shakers with flavours like Oreo, Strawberry, and Lotus Biscoff.

With their selections on the menu, it is no wonder they are called Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop there.

This specific location has a 4.2 star rating on Google, and a recent comment stated “Best place for a morning breakfast or a cup of coffee in evening. I went here multiple times and was never disappointed. There are so many options to choose from in food as well as coffee. The hot chocolate is a must.”

Honestly we’re still not over the patio here.
