One of Ontario’s oldest towns has a beautiful cascade waterfall in this significant natural area

Fall energy is in full swing and if you’re looking to make the most of it, embark on this local adventure not too far from Toronto. Ancaster, Ontario is historic town, filled with centuries-old buildings, local gems and a very popular waterfall.

You’ll find this historic stop about an hour and a half away from Toronto. Ancaster is part of the Golden Horseshoe area and is considered one of the oldest towns in Ontario.

According to Tourism Hamilton, this town dates back to 1793 and was once the largest industrial centre in all of Canada.

“Its wealth is still visible today with gorgeous historical architecture and a small, but dynamic, downtown,” shares the site.

From 200-year-old stone buildings to fine dining destinations and cafes, there’s no shortage of where to treat yourself if you’re looking to fuel up on the best eats.

Tiffany Falls

Its conservation area is considered a “significant natural area” for its bedrock exposures, which are an Earth Science Area of Regional Significance.

It has a forested trail that will lead you to the majestic 21-metre cascade of Tiffany Falls. You’ll want to snap a pic!

If all that exploration got you hungry, get more bang for your buck at Ancaster Mills. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal with a perfect view of its two cascading waterfalls, set against a backdrop of lush green forest, bridges, and stone buildings.

It’s a wonderful natural area just begging to be explored.
