This winding boardwalk in Ontario is a gorgeous spot to take in changing autumn colours

Autumn is in full swing and we know just the place to take in some spectacular views. The Spruce Bog Boardwalk is located within one of Ontario’s most beloved parks, Algonquin, and it’s the trail you’re going to want to hit up on a crisp fall day.

Here’s what to know.

Getting there

To experience the Spruce Bog Boardwalk, you’ll need to get yourself to Algonquin Provincial Park.

The park is a three-hour drive from Toronto – an easy road trip! There’s a day fee to enter the park priced at $12.25 per vehicle.

The loop trail meanders through several sections of the boardwalk among the stunning trees that look extra special this time of year.

According to Friends of Algonquin Park, the trail gives you an “excellent close-up look of two typical northern spruce bogs.”

The trail is located off of the Highway 60 corridor, and is a popular spot for bird watchers if that’s your thing! In fact, more than 260 bird species have been recorded in the park to date.

The entire loop should only take you around an hour to complete making it easy and accessible for hikers of all skill levels.

Once you’ve completed the Spruce Bog trail be sure to check out the other trails at the park – there’s a reason Algonquin is so popular this time of year.

If you don’t mind roughing it a little, the park has year-round back-country camping to take advantage of, too.
