This small town in Ontario has a picturesque harbour & offers four seasons of charm

Ah, the beauty of Ontario towns never gets old. If you’re looking for a comforting small town to explore this winter, especially one that is a short drive away, check out Thornbury.

Located on beautiful Georgian Bay, Thornbury is known for its scenic harbour, as well as the River Walk Trail and Fish Ladder adjacent to the Blue Mountains’ Town Hall.

The Ontario town’s slogan is “Four Seasons of Charm” which reflects its offerings year round.

According to the Thornbury BIA, during the winter, “the countryside transforms into a wonderland, perfect for skiing and snowboarding.”

In spring, the trees and flowers blossom, leading to summer and the warm days by the harbour. The hot days are perfect for swimming in the Bay’s clear waters.

The town is rich in history, and South Georgian Bay Tourism says that “some may say that the Thornbury Pier is the icon of a picturesque small town.” Adding that the sunsets at the pier can’t be beat.

If you’re looking to stay in Thornbury, the town is home to the Royal Harbour Resort, which nestled right across from the pier.

Thornbury’s main street is exactly what you’d picture a small town’s to be, with local boutiques and quaint cafes.

And over the holidays, you can check out the 47th annual Thornbury Olde Fashioned Christmas.

Taking place on Saturday, December 9th, there will be horse-drawn carriage rides, axe throwing, live music, Collingwood Circus Company, and you can visit with Santa.

Who’s ready for a road trip to Thornbury?!
