We think that, without a doubt, Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood is one of the most unique in the country. After all, what other inner-city neighbourhood is filled to the brim with multi-acre horse estates? Not even a city like Calgary can lay claim to that. Of course, you gotta pay to play here, and this stunning property for sale is no different. Let’s check it out!

Located on the edge of the McCleery Golf Course, this 2.5 acre estate has everything you need to pretend you don’t even live in Vancouver anymore. Outside, you’ll find both a pool and your own private pond, just in case you need to do a little reflecting before feeding your horses. Which, by the way, you can house up to 5 of in your private barn and stalls.

Need a little help with your new chores? There’s also a 1,500 square foot caretakers’ home on the property. Of course, you can just as easily invite friends and family over for a weekend horse therapy session, if that’s something that’s up your alley. Otherwise, just hang out in the sprawling backyard and enjoy a few BBQs!

Current zoning laws mean the home has to stay as-is, but we’re not complaining. Coming in at around 7,000 square feet, the home features 7 bedrooms and a whopping 11 bathrooms. We don’t know how big your family is, but we might suggest swapping a couple of those for a studio space or an in-house gym. Just a thought.

Although it was built back in 2004, the home features an open, mid-century modern aesthetic that is about as timeless as it gets. And besides, no rebuilding doesn’t mean you can’t change the floors and walls if you want to. We wouldn’t, since we have a thing for concrete floors.

But hey, anyone willing to shell out $20M on an estate like this probably has the cash to redo it as they see fit. On the bright side, McCleery is a public course, so you can at least save yourself in annual fees from the nearby private courses. Maybe introduce a barter system where you’ll let neighbours use your pool in exchange for free apples for the horses. If there’s one neighbourhood where money no longer seems to matter, it’s here.

If you’ve got the cash to join this brave new world, then you can check out this stunning home for sale in the Southlands right here.
