This Vancouver-born coffee brand lets you turn your morning coffee into a charitable act

Okay, let’s be honest- ambitious or not, the idea of a freshly brewed, steamy mug of coffee is the only constant motivation we (well, most of us) have to get out of bed every morning. More so since it’s the only part of our routine that remains unaffected by the pandemic. And thanks to Ethical Bean Coffee, our enticing cup of coffee is now doing more than just waking us up. It’s also making us more environmentally conscious and charitable.

Ethical Bean, as you probably already know, is a Vancouver-based coffee brand that brings to us 100% fairtrade, organic and locally-roasted coffee beans. With its fair trade and sustainable practices, the brand has been living up to its name for almost two decades. And they are now making it easier for us to extend the same love (or even more) to the environment as we do our coffee.

As part of their sustainability initiatives, Ethical Bean has partnered up with international recycling leader TerraCycle® to bring you the Ethical Bean Coffee Recycling Program. This program allows you to send in any brand of empty coffee bags to TerraCycle to be recycled for free. Collect the bags in any box you have on hand and when full, send it in.

“We have always believed that doing something good should be rewarded with something that tastes spectacular and this extension of our coffee bag recycling program with TerraCycle delivers on that promise,” said Viren Malik, Ethical Bean COO. “We will grow consumer participation across Canada, reduce flexible bag waste across the coffee industry and support charity organizations. It’s a win-win.”

Now, here’s the charitable side of the program- with every shipment, you earn reward points (about 3 points per bag). Your points can then be used to make a donation to your choice of a non-profit, school or charitable organization.  Basically, our morning cup of joy will now bring joy to the community and the planet as well.

All you have to do is sign-up here and collect the coffee bags in a box (presumably in the box you received your recent shipment of Ethical Bean Coffee). Then print the shipping label and send the shipment out.

Here, check out the TerraCycle website for more info on the program and then head over to Ethical Bean Coffee to grab your fave coffee roast.
