This vacant parking lot is being transformed into a brand new park in Toronto

Ah, Toronto. The city that’s always working on itself. Yet another project is under way to make this town a better place. This time it’s a brand new park at Richmond and Adelaide. The space is currently home to a vacant parking lot, but CreateTO has just officially announced a plan for that to change.

According to Toronto City Council Representative Joe Cressy, this plan for the 24,000 square foot piece of land has been in the works for five years. Located at 229 Richmond, the new park will be a wonderful green space for the estimated 44,000 residents who will call the King-Spadina neighbourhood their home once the development is complete.

Even more exciting – the park is the first of its kind in the area in 20 years! The project was announced alongside plans for relocation of the fire station at 260 Adelaide to Metro Hall. The revitalization of the property will include affordable housing with 196 new units as 10,000 square feet of community space. Not too shabby!

All in all it looks like this little pocket of the King-Spadina neighbourhood is in for some pretty stellar upgrade. We can’t wait to see these exciting plans come to life!
