A recent report from BMO has identified which Canadian cities were the best places to work during the second wave of COVID-19. The report covers September to December of last year, and has some surprising results. Let’s check em out!
The report weighed a number of factors to make the list. A city’s population growth and employment growth were both included. Then, those were combined with the unemployment and employment rate changes.

So, here were the top 10 cities for work in Canada for work during the second wave:
Turns out, smaller cities around the country seemed to weather the storm the best. Notably, Kelowna, BC and Oshawa, Ontario both grew employment by over 2% last year. It’s a far cry from a city like Ottawa, which is facing a 9% loss in employment.
