Well Edmonton, it turns out that we are officially home to the best BBQ sauce on the planet! The local brand Motley Que took home the top prize at the largest BBQ sauce contest in the world, with their ‘Sticky Fixx’ sauce. So yeah, buy this up before the rest of the world catches wind. That’s our plan, at least.
The contest is held by the American Royal, a massive BBQ contest, rodeo, and livestock show held each year in Kansas City, Missouri. And although things looked a little different this year, there were still a whopping 364 different sauces participating. These sauces were placed into 5 categories- tomato mild, tomato hot, vinegar, mustard and specialty.

And, not only did ‘Sticky Fixx’ take home the top prize in the ‘tomato mild’ category, it also won the overall competition! Maybe even most impressive of all was the score though, since it was the only sauce to score a perfect 180. That’s right folks, we’re looking at what might just be the platonic ideal of BBQ sauces.
Lucky for us, Motley Que is almost as focused on putting that sauce to good use as they are making it. In addition to a whole swack of helpful articles and recipes on their website, they also offer in-person classes (when available) so that you can perfect cooking at home.
