Alright Calgary, if you’re anything like us, we know that you have the best intentions of going for that long-overdue run! But it doesn’t always happen if we don’t have some good old-fashioned peer pressure giving us that much-needed kick in the pants. Or, maybe it’s a great cause that we need to get us up and out of our seats! Either way, we’ve got just the thing for you.

On Sunday, June 13th, the 25th Annual Betty’s Run for ALS by the ALS Society of Alberta is back, and this year- it’s virtual. That means you, your friends, and your family can participate (safely) from wherever you are. And if you’re not into running? No sweat (literally), just walk!

The annual Betty’s Run is all about community and coming together to show our love and support for our friends and family who are living with ALS, or those who have sadly lost their battle. It really is the perfect opportunity to promote Care, Hope, and Community here in Calgary. The last year has been tough to say the least, so we’re pretty sure we could all use an opportunity to come together for an amazing cause!

So, here’s the scoop on how to participate:

  1. Check out the ALS Society of Alberta’s website to sign up for Betty’s Run, purchase a shirt and/or make a donation
  2. Challenge your friends & family to participate in this virtual event either by sharing this article or one of our ALS sponsored Instagram posts
  3. After your run/walk on Sunday, June 13th, 2021 make sure to hit social media to share your post-run-selfie using the Hashtag #JustRan4ALS

You might opt to participate simply by spreading the word or making a small donation. In doing those small actions you have the power to make a world of a difference for the ALS community!

The ALS Society of Alberta’s mission is to make each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. All proceeds from this walk/run will go directly towards supporting ALS clients and also towards ALS research.

Our hope is that participating in this event will contribute to an improvement in our overall mental and physical health, while simultaneously acting to raise awareness for the amazing initiatives led by the ALS Society of Alberta.

So, what do ya say, Calgary? Nothing like supporting a good cause while getting out for some exercise to kick off an amazing summer. So round up your friends and family (virtually), and participate in this year’s 25th Betty’s Run for ALS!
