It seems like each week there’s a cool new startup in Seattle. And PairTree is yet another. But they serve an extremely important purpose, and that is matching expectant mothers with adoptive parents. It’s kind of like an online dating meets adoption agency. Welcome to the future folks!

PairTree works by using an algorithm and matches parents and mothers based on personality traits. And while this might sound a little simple for a life-changing decision, it’s actually making adoption more accessible. Due to the personality matching, it allows mothers and adoptive families to remain a part of each other’s lives after the adoption process. Plus because there’s no middle man, it cuts costs from around $60,000 to $15,000.

So whether you’re adopting for medical needs or by choice, it’s opening the doors to parenthood for a lot of people.

Similar to traditional adoption, adoptive parents have to partake in a home study with an approved social worker and also use an attorney to finalize the adoption process. Plus identity verification is required for both parties to ensure a safe and happy process. So far, PairTree has 1,600 adoptive families and over 275 expectant mothers sign up with a total of 10 matches.

We can’t wait to hear about all the future success stories and we’re proud to see Seattleites creating startups that benefit everyone. If you’d like to learn more about PairTree you can click here.
