In case you needed to feel a little fancier drinking this weekend, we’ve got news for you. The 43-year-old Canadian Club Chronicle has been named Canada’s top whisky by the Canadian Whisky Awards. Looks like they get to join the club!
It got the top honour out of over 130 Canadian whiskies, so you know this the real deal. However, getting your hands on the award-winning spirit might be harder than you expect. The 43-year-old bottle costs around $320 a pop, if you can find it. It’s not your casual weekday drinking, unless you’re much richer than us.

Also, while it probably wasn’t a factor for this award, Canadian Club is Don Draper’s drink of choice on Mad Men. That’s gives the brand points in our book!
Some other whiskies that took home awards included Pendleton’s Director Reserve for “Connoisseur Whisky of the Year” and Gibson’s Finest Bold was named best Canadian market “Sippin’ Whisky.”
While you might not be able to afford the top whisky, the Canadian Whisky Award results might be a helpful guide to trying some new ones out. As for us? Well, we fear that our palates might not be ready for it.
