When Vancouver’s movie theatres reopened earlier this month, there was one notable name missing from the lineup. For those keeping track at home, the VIFF Centre has seen an extended closure. But, they’re finally ready to open their doors once more!

As a refresher, the downtown movie theatre finished a $2.8M renovation last September that updated pretty much all aspects of the interior. However, that was short-lived, with the theatre only open a few short weeks before being told to close again.

However, one look at the lineup shows that they aren’t missing a beat. The reopening weekend lineup features relatively recent releases like Ema (2019) to critically acclaimed classics like La Piscine (1969). Our top pick? That’s easy- Gunda, which is a movie about a pig family that Paul Thomas Anderson called ‘pure cinema’.

If that’s not enough to get you into movie theatres once more, then we don’t know what is. For more information on the return of the VIFF Centre and to book some tickets, just click the link below!
