The trend of homes selling for less than a cup of coffee in stunning Italian settings continues! The Municipality of Pratola Peligna, located east of Rome, has announced it will be selling abandoned properties (including homes) for a mere 1€, or $1.44 CAD.

Pratola Peligna is located in the Abruzzo region, which has been dubbed ‘the greenest region in Europe’. Why? Well, turns out that over half of it is either national parks or nature preserves, offering incredible destinations spreading from the Apennine Mountains to the Adriatic Sea.

And, this town happens to be one of them! Just two hours east of Rome and only an hour from the sea, this picturesque town of 7,000 people is the perfect mix of rugged, natural beauty and convenience. And, they’re hoping to attract some international buyers to it.

So, the town has joined others in rounding up condemned and abandoned properties and trying to find their owners. If they can’t, then international buyers will be offered to buy the properties at ludicrously low prices. In fact, according to CNN, a couple have already sold, and are being currently renovated.
