Another weekend, another roundup of the best things to do around the city! With a corn maze, free fashion show, and a slew of live music performances slated for August 12-14, we’re sure the next couple of days will be for the books. Downtown Vancouver BIA is hosting its first-ever inclusive fashion show! Robson Square will transform into a glam runway giving off serious Fashion Week vibes. Walking down this pretty runway will be models donning local LGBTQ2IAS+ and BIPOC designers like Project Runway alum Carlie Wong, mental health advocates Thirty-Seven East and unisex apparel line Pattern Nation, featuring a total of nine local designers and three popular Downtown Van retailers.
And of course, there will be live music, performances, and a whole lotta glam!

Check out the Chilliwack Corn Maze

Science World is partnering with Greendale Acres to launch the whopping 12-acre 2022 Chilliwack Corn Maze, which features a massive T.rex-shape! The opening day is this Saturday, August 13th – so grab some special event tix and enjoy a little pre-fall adventure! Performing in the evening is none other than local country fave, Tanner Olsen Band.

Ambleside Music Festival

The long-awaited first-ever Ambleside Music Fest is happening this weekend, and the lineup is outrageous. If you’re into alt-rock and looking for another great music fest to hit before summer’s end, this is it!

When: Friday, August 12th to Sunday, August 14th
Where: 1150 Marine Drive
Cost: $245 for early bird 3-day passes

Hit up a patio happy hour

It probably goes without saying that patio-hopping is a must this summer, but we know it’s easy to rack up quite the bill. Thankfully, there are a ton of stunning patios with equally amazing happy hours to take advantage of.

Our weekend plans are covered all throughout August – the Granville Promenade is back and better than ever! For the second year in a row, the two blocks between Smithe St. & Helmcken St. are turning into a pedestrian-only zone filled with street art, live music, dance, performances, pop-up markets, and best of all – the greatest summer vibes!

When: Every Saturday and Sunday in August, 1 pm to 7 pm
Where: Granville Street and Smithe to Helmcken Street

Eat your way through the Richmond Garlic Fest

Stock up on your breath mints, Vancouver – because the 12th annual garlic festival in Richmond is back after a three-year hiatus! In addition to pounds and pounds of garlic, guests can expect to see live music, an expanded farmer’s market, and extra ‘garlicy’ food truck eats – including the controversial roasted garlic ice cream!

When: Sunday, August 14th
Where: 2771 Westminster Highway, Richmond
Cost: $5 by-donation admission

The Marias

We couldn’t be more thrilled that The Marias (named after lead singer Maria Zardoya) is coming to Vancouver this weekend. With their distinct indie pop meets Spanglish vibes, we’re sure the energy will be off the charts.

Vancouver Mural Fest

This is the final weekend of Vancouver’s beloved Mural Fest, if you can believe it. So, take advantage of all the pop-up patios, mural walks, and live performances that you can! The all-ages street party will lead you right back to the Granville Prom on Sunday, August 14th – you know where we’ll be.

Go camping

It’s prime camping season, folks. And come October and November…we’ll all probably wish we did more of it this summer. As long as you’ve got all the camping equipment you need and ample gas in the tank – why not do some exploring and find a new go-to spot to reconnect with nature?

Light the Night 2022

If you’re looking to get out on the water at night before summer’s end, Vancouver Water Adventures is still offering a unique glow-in-the-dark paddle experience from Granville Island – and we think it’s definitely worth the splurge if you feel like mixing things up.
