Hello Vancouver! We hope that you’ve enjoyed the long weekend, and are ready for another week of fun around the city. Of course, if you’re looking for suggestions, we’ve got tons of them. Check out a concert, enjoy some fresh air, get a little artsy… the list goes on!

Here are the 10 best things to do in Vancouver this week.

Cannons

We’ve got a couple of concerts lined up this week! Cannons has been around since 2013, offering up music that is perfect for a road trip or a day spent lounging by the pool. So, their Vancouver concert is, in our eyes, a fantastic way to kick off the spring!

When: Tuesday, April 19th
Where: 3123 W Broadway
Cost: $20+

Snail Mail

Meanwhile, this beloved indie rocker has a show later in the week! Over the years, Snail Mail has developed a cult following, and at just 22 she’s poised to just grow in popularity. Catch the (somewhat) early wave here.

When: Thursday, April 21st
Where: 918 Granville Street
Cost: $32.50

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have got back to back home games to kick off the week! They face off against the Dallas Stars on Monday, then the Ottawa Senators the day after. Our prediction? Back to back, and resounding, victories.

When: Monday, April 18th and Tuesday, April 19th
Where: 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: Varies

Whisky & Words

Specific to be sure, but more than worthy of a mention. Put on by the Vancouver Writers Fest, this event will give you access to some incredible whiskies from right here in BC and around the world. Plus, there will be food to go alongside the (unlimited) tastings.

When: Friday, April 22nd
Where: 1218 Cartwright Street
Cost: $130 for GA

Vancouver Art Gallery

A new exhibition opened recently at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Titled Restless, the exhibition is a display of the museum’s recent acquisitions, so expect to see a ton of new artists and some stunning installations. And of course, head down Tuesday night for admission by donation!

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 750 Hornby Street
Cost: Varies

’DA KINK IN MY HAIR

If you’re looking for a meaningful night out, stop by the Arts Club Theatre for a showing of ‘Da Kink In My Hair, a musical celebrating women of colour through the stories and lives of eight different women. Lovers of music and the performing arts unite!

When: Showtimes throughout the week
Where: Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage

$35

Try a new restaurant

Heck, maybe this is a good dinner and a show combo! We’re excited about Monarca for two very good reasons. First, it’s from the folks behind another acclaimed spot, Ophelia. Second, it has transformed the space of a older destination restaurant- Coquille in Gastown.

When: Open Tuesday to Sunday
Where: 181 Carrall Street

Check out the Chilliwack Tulip Festival

We know the pull of the cherry blossom season is strong, but it’s definitely worth the trek to Chilliwack to appreciate the tulips as well! This season, there will be over 20 acres of 30 tulip varieties as well as 15 types of daffodils.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 41310 Royalwood Drive, Chilliwack
Cost:
$13+ for GA

Find some Cherry Blossoms

Even still, those looking to enjoy our city’s most beautiful natural attraction (yeah, we’re making that claim) can spend the entire month looking for cherry blossoms and still not see them all! So, for the best places to go, we’ve helped you out.

Watch ‘The Batman’

Sometimes, movies come out where you simply have to see it, if only to appease your friends that already have. Luckily, The Batman combines the best of both the superhero and detective worlds, so even though we saw it in theatres, we’re watching it again this week.

When: Premieres Monday, April 18th
Where: Streaming on Crave Canada

That’s what we have in mind for this weekend, Vancouver!
