The dynamic Icelandic group is making its way to Vancouver this Monday, May 9th — so get ready for some funk post-rock to get this week started!

International Hummus Day at Nuba

May 13th marks International Hummus Day, and to celebrate, Nuba is releasing a line of hummus in three amazing flavours — classic Lebanese style, spicy herb & jalapeño, and the tangy-sweet pomegranate and sumac.

The hummus is made using only 100% traceable Kabuli chickpeas grown by Canadian farmers and will be available via Nuba’s complimentary tasting menu. Guests at all 4 of their locations next week will be offered a free tasting starting Monday, May 9th. Best of all? You could win free hummus for a year!

Canadian Championship: Whitecaps vs Valour

Cheer on the Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Wednesday, May 11th, where they’ll be kicking off their 2022 Canadian Championship campaign against the Canadian Premier League side Valour FC.

Xicanx exhibition at MOA

On Thursday, May 12th, a Mexican-American (Xicanx) exhibition is coming to MOA. The artists are all of Xicanx descent and will delve into their own personal histories and collective history through the Chicano civil rights movement, stories of their Aztlán homeland, and more.

Vancouver fans of legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor are in for a real treat this Thursday, May 12th! The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is slated to perform alongside Jackson Browne at Rogers Arena.

Cirque du Soleil

Nope, we’re not sick of Cirque du Soleil yet, (and don’t think we ever will be!) Even if it’s the same show, each viewing is like the first sip of coffee. A completely new, rewarding experience every time.

2022 DOXA Documentary Film Festival

The DOXA Documentary Film Fest is about to kick things off on Saturday, May 7th with a viewing of Fire of Love (dir. Sara Cosa). However, the festival will be going on all week-long, and feature a ton of local and international filmmakers.

Grab an afternoon drink

Improv Centre Theatre – Granville Island

Our list would not be complete without something that gives us a little comedic release! Luckily for Vancouverites, Granville Island’s Improv Centre Theatre always has stuff going on to put a smile (no matter how begrudgingly) on your face.

Check out their series The Playground on Thursdays, where the comedians basically have 100% free reign. Or, if you missed the last couple of drag brunches, there’s this month’s Drag at The Improv on Thursday, May 12th.
