Following its mini festival last year, NorthwestFEARFest is back this October with a bone-chilling lineup of 15 horrifying films! Get ready to be spooked.

Retire Netflix for an evening and try a fun night out at the theatre instead! Citadel Theatre’s Little Shop of Horrors is the perfect blend of comedy, music, and just a hint of fall-appropriate spookiness. This sci-fi musical comedy tells the story of a meek floral shop assistant who stumbles across a strange new plant that causes business to boom. But this plant has a sinister edge, and when it starts to promise fame and fortune, it also develops a vampiric thirst for human blood! This story is one of the theatre company’s longest-running Off-Broadway shows and is set to an upbeat 60s-inspired pop/rock score for a fun night out streaming services can’t beat.

Ready for some opera? Edmonton Opera is bringing Bizet’s Carmen this week, and it’s described as a “fiery passion and drama are ever present in this timeless spectacle of love and loss.”

As part of Symphony for Kids, you can check out The Hockey Sweater at the Winspear Centre on Sunday. “Have you ever seen a hockey game on stage at the Winspear? The iconic Canadian story, The Hockey Sweater, is brought to life through the music of Abigail Richardson-Schulte,” according to the centre.

Get ready to be spooked, every weekend this month Spruce Ridge Scare is a family owned and built Haunted House located at #287 Spruce Ridge rd. in Spruce Grove! The family charges either $5 a person (a donation for men’s health), or one non-perishable food donation per person (for the parkland food bank).

The world premier of Crescendo! is taking place at the Shadow Theatre starting this week. “Crescendo! is inspired by true stories and takes us into the lives of women in a community choir, ” according to the theatre.
