Seattle Center Festál has brought Seattleites together through the celebration of so many different cultures this year. The wonderful annual event series is set to cap with Diwali this November but before then, visitors can experience a Hmong New Year celebration. Here’s what to expect.
Seattle Hmong New Year is presented in partnership with Hmong Association of Washington (HAW). It is set to take place on Saturday, November 4th at the Armory Food & Event Hall.

According to Seattle Center, Hmong New Year is the biggest festive holiday celebrated withinHmong communities. It traditionally lasts for ten days, but has been shortened in the US.
A popular part of the Hmong New Year is, ‘Pov Pob’ which consists of tossing ball between two people, as a form of courtship.
Seattle Center Festál events are free and open to the public. Keep in mind that food and any goods you want to purchase will be an additional cost.
