CANADIAN BIRKIE SKI FESTIVAL

Ready to get active and embrace the cold winter weather? The Canadian Birkie Ski Festival has over eight cross-country skiing events taking place this February and there are opportunities for all levels to participate — including a 55km ski race with a weighted pack, 13km Mini Birkie and 7km Birkie Fun Ski.

SILVER SKATE FESTIVAL

This free 10-day event is Edmonton’s longest running winter festival! Starting February 9th, locals can enjoy the city’s scenic ODRS, marvel at this year’s ice sculpture garden, compete in a winter triathlon or catch an evening show at the Winter Cinema in Laurier Park.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF WINTER CINEMA

Speaking of Cinema, the Silver Skate Festival’s first screening will take place on Friday night, featuring a series of winter, alpine, and polar-themed short films by Canadian filmmakers. The coolest part? The short films will be projected onto a giant snow-made screen.
