Theatre Under the Stars is returning to Stanley Park next month & here’s what to expect

Summer 2022 is right around the corner, and we’ve got some pretty exciting news to share. Stanley Park’s beloved outdoor theatre series, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is returning this July!

This year, Vancouverites will get to see the satirical rivalry between Shakespeare and Queen play out in Something Rotten! and We Will Rock you.

“We are thrilled to welcome audiences back to Stanley Park’s majestic Malkin Bowl this summer for a season of unforgettable musical theatre that will breathe new life into the TUTS stage,” says TUTS Board President Patrick Roberge.

Something Rotten! – Opening night on July 7th

Something Rotten! is a whimsical blockbuster hit set in Elizabethian England, following the ‘rockstar-esque’ life of William Shakespeare in his prime. The musical is full of satire and absurdity and loves to poke fun at all things Broadway. This one’s definitely for folks who enjoy art (and comedy) that’s self-aware.

Returning to the stage for his fifth TUTS season is Daniel Curalli as William Shakespeare, starring alongside Kamyar Pazandeh (Nick Bottom) and Vicente Sandoval (Nigel Bottom). Plus, award-winning director Rachel Peake will make her TUTS directorial debut!

Playing the lead quirky pair are Danny Malena and Jessica Spenst, who will both make their TUTS debuts. Steffanie Davis will return for her fourth TUTS season as the villainous Killer Queen.
