Huh, well we just watched the Vancouver-filmed Recess live action and we’re feeling all sorts of feels. The 12-minute long fan film, titled ‘Third Street’, is both an homage to the original series and a new step in the Recess universe. Yeah, we’re confident in calling it that.

The film was directed by Jerome Yoo and produced by Aimer Films. It follows the gang (TJ, Spinelli, Mikey, Gretchen, Gus and Vince) as they go through a regular day at high school. Honestly, all the touches are right on the nose, ranging from Mikey’s glorious singing voice to Randall’s love of Miss Finster.

We’d do the full review, but we don’t want to spoil the show for you. What we can say is that we were completely caught off guard by how well it adapted the original series. If this was on Netflix we’d absolutely binge-watch it in a week.

So, what are you waiting for? Take an extended coffee break at work and check out this fantastic fan film. Props to the cast and crew for exceeding all of our expectations (as completely unproven, uneducated film buffs).

In the meanwhile, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that this isn’t the end of the new concept.
