One of Alberta’s best holiday traditions returns, reinvented by Alberta Ballet’s artistic director, Francesco Ventriglia.

The Nutcracker, a production done by Alberta Ballet year after year with such resounding success, is changing this year. Joined by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the ballet will perform an all-new version of the classic story to Tchaikovsky’s famous score. Watch the magic unfold on stage in this refreshed Nutcracker production.

What to expect

For the Alberta Ballet, The Nutcracker continues to be a heartwarming centrepiece of the season and a grand milestone. After 16 years, they have created an all-new production to excite old and new fans alike.

These Edmonton shows beginning Dec. 3 will mark the world premiere of this new production. Following its run in Edmonton, it will continue in Calgary.

For those who aren’t familiar with The Nutcracker, this show tells a story set to the stunning orchestral score by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The story follows a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a Mouse King, and the rest you’ll have to discover.

Tickets are already on sale on Ticketmaster, so get ready to snag them up as soon as possible. This show is highly sought after, so better to get them sooner rather than later.

Whether it’s a tradition to see the show or you’re finally getting tickets to the highly anticipated production, this one will definitely not be one to miss.
