The new ’15 Best Places to Visit in Canada’ list features tons of future travel ideas

It’s kind of a moot point right now, but we’re hoping that the new rankings of the best places to visit in Canada this year will be relevant by the fall. The rankings come from US News and World Report, which is the same publication that named Canada the best country in the world last month. So, we’ve got a soft spot for their lists.

Although, we’re sure that this one is going to ruffle a few feathers across the country (don’t they always?). The list ranges between classic getaway spots, metropolitan cities, and a couple of treks to Canada’s more rugged areas. So, let’s see what spots made the cut!

Here are the best places to visit in Canada this year, according to the list:

  1. Banff, Alberta
  2. Vancouver, BC
  3. Niagara Falls, Ontario
  4. Jasper National Park, Alberta
  5. Montreal, Quebec
  6. Quebec City, Quebec
  7. Victoria & Vancouver Island, BC
  8. Prince Edward Island
  9. Whistler, BC
  10. Mont Tremblant, Quebec
  11. Whitehorse, NWT
  12. Toronto, Ontario
  13. Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland
  14. Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia
  15. Okanagan Valley, BC

So, Alberta’s stunning Banff (and the associated national park) took the top spot, with Vancouver coming second and Niagara Falls landing in third. Honestly- we see no issues here, as they’re arguably the best vacation spots for the mountains, the west coast, and eastern Canada respectively. Plus, there is a real solid mix of options presented, stretching more or less across the entire country.

But, we should mention that these rankings are by and large editorial, so it’s not exactly a bunch of hard data being used on the list. And, that probably explains some of the more, uh, interesting choices.

Don’t get us wrong, here. We’d love to see Whitehorse’s wild beauty someday, but there’s no denying it’s a much more specific kind of vibe when compared to Toronto, which is actually underneath it on the rankings this year. We also like that major geographic regions, like the Okanagan Valley, are just kind of presented in bundles.

But hey, it’s that kind of insight that you follow us for, right? At least, we hope that you do.
