If you’re looking for a new experience in Seattle, this mystical-desert themed pop-up bar is an immersive experience you’ll want to check out! The Mystic Motel is the latest pop-up bar by the group behind Seattle’s Christmas Dive Bar, and it opens this weekend.
Described as “a Wes Anderson-esque 1970s ‘theme park’ of a dusty desert roadside motel,” the new pop-up is located at The Woods, 1512 11th Ave, and opens on April 5th, 2024.

Behind the scenes, Joey Burgess and Murf Hall of Burgess/Hall, husbands, business partners, and owners of many of Capitol Hill’s most recognized businesses, including Elliott Bay Book Co., Oddfellows/Little Oddfellows, Queer/Bar, and Cuff Complex, “decided to go all-in on the pop-up bar experience as a new business model for The Woods (formerly Grim’s Provisions) which they’ve owned and operated since 2014,” states a press release.
Burgess said that they really wanted to bring something “completely unexpected to the hill.”
When you visit this pop-up oasis experience, you can expect a courtyard style feature on the main floor with faux cacti, campfires, and even critters that call the sand home.
“No desert experience would be complete without the sounds and glow of a handmade faux campfire and blanket-covered bench seating,” they add.
In the mezzanine, you will be transported into the Starlight Lounge, “where they will be in awe as constellations, nebulas, and whole galaxies swirl overhead.”
The pop-up will be in Capitol Hill through the summer.
Enjoy!
