Alright, folks, June is here and we’re ready to share some new restaurants to try in Vancouver this month. Between the warmer weather, the return of patio dining, and a serious number of newcomers, the problem won’t be picking which to visit. Instead, it’ll be finding the time to visit them all! Honestly, we’re happy about it.

Having just launched yesterday, Burdy is just getting its legs under it. This new concept operates out of a bus that is permanently parked at Container Brewing, and they’ve got one specific goal in mind- to bring delicious Chicken and Eggplant Parm sandwiches to the city. Definitely fold this spot into your next local brewery visit, folks!

After over a decade of waiting for the opportunity, the folks at the original La Taqueria on Hastings Street have revealed a brand new patio concept. And while tacos will always be on the menu, they’ve got a whole range of new items to try out. Plus, one of the partners was previously at Bar Raval in Toronto, which is undoubtedly one of the best bars in Canada.

Speaking of new concepts from local favourites, the folks behind DL Chicken and DownLow Burgers have completed their sandwich trifecta with this new sub shop. Located on Venables (the reason behind the name) this new shop isn’t shying away from a variety of sandwich styles, ranging from classic deli to soy poached chicken. Honestly, we’ve been waiting for this incredible new spot to open for over two years now. Located in what is undeniably the most interesting space in the city, Nemesis GNW is also the new home base for the brand. In addition to making their own roasts, Nemesis has created a new brunch menu to enjoy and will have the same baked goods that you can find at the Dope Bakehouse in North Van.

Giovane bacaro is the latest concept from the folks behind staples like Ask for Luigi and Pourhouse. This time around, they’re focusing on Northern Italian cuisine, and paying special attention to share plates called cicchetti. Similar to tapas, and with a drinks list to match, this is sure to become a summer go-to downtown.

We guess it’s a good week to try new things, hey? The third restaurant slated to open this week is not exactly new, but more than deserving of a spot. After over 2 decades in the original Gastown location, this staple Irish pub is returning with a new menu and a new location. If you never checked it out during its stint in Gastown, make sure to go enjoy the new spot as soon as possible.

Our final pick is something we truly hope arrives in the city before June ends. This ambitious new concept from the folks behind Chancho Tortilleria serves multiple functions. Sure, you can swing by for a quick bite to eat in the cantina. But, there will also be a takeout window, a taco shop and a retail store as well. If that’s not enough, the more devoted will also get to explore an educational space about Mexican cuisines.
