Raise a glass to a little slice of history! Canada’s oldest bar, The Mansion House, is right here in Ontario and it’s still operating. If you want to visit for yourself you can find it in downtown St. Catharines and here’s the story behind it.

According to the restaurant and bar, “The Mansion House is a historical building located in Canada, originally built in the early 1800s by William Hamilton Merritt as a home and store. In 1826, it was converted into a hotel and the main floor was expanded to include a dining room and office where Merritt and his partners conducted business.”
The Mansion House has undergone renovations and updates over the years but still stands as the oldest continually licensed bar in Canada.
Open Wednesdays – Saturdays, you can make a reservation if you want to pay a visit.
The menu has lots to choose from including delicious options such as Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, a Steak Sandwich, Buffalo Wings, Chicken Tacos, Burgers and more.
The Mansion House comes alive at night and is known for its nightlife and bottle service options.
