Moira Rose survives the apocalypse? ‘The Last of Us’ announces iconic new cast member

Amazing news, The Last of Us fans! Joining the season 2 cast of your favourite post-apocalyptic show is none other than Canadian legend Catherine O’Hara, known for her standout roles in Schidtt’s Creek, Home Alone, Waiting for Guffman, and Beetlejuice – to name just a few.

That’s right, Moira Rose has now officially entered The Last of Us universe!

Though if you follow O’Hara’s career religiously, you know that the Canadian actress, writer, and comedian got her start impersonating the likes of Lucille Ball and Katharine Hepburn on the Canadian sketch comedy show, SCTV from 1976 to 1984.

To say that we’re excited to see such a prominent Canadian talent join the show would be an understatement!

On the morning of Friday, February 2nd, the show’s official social accounts released the news:

Although they did not yet specify which role the famed actress will play, it’s being discussed by fans in the comments.

Among the elated yet confused responses, there are answers. “Kevin McCallister’s mom,” “JJ,” and “Owen” – all unserious ‘guesses’ to keep us entertained while The Last of Us builds up the anticipation.

As it stands, The Last of Us is still the largest series ever filmed in Canada, and O’Hara joins three new cast members for season 2: Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.

Stay tuned for more info as it comes, including more details on O’Hara’s character and upcoming filming locations in Vancouver.
