Remembrance Day (Nov. 11) is just around the corner, and we’ve rounded up some of the most important places you might need to stop in Edmonton to help you during this recognized holiday.
This day, according to the City of Edmonton, is an annual holiday recognizing the honour, courage, service, and sacrifice of fallen Canadians, veterans, and current Canadian Armed Forces members. Although it is not a statutory holiday across Canada, it is a general holiday in Alberta.
Select services and places may be closed on the holiday, which is why we’ve collected the go-to spots to tell you what’s open and closed this Remembrance Day. So, without further ado, let’s get into the details.
If you’re looking for ways to recognize the holiday, the City of Edmonton will be hosting a Remembrance Day ceremony on the day itself, Nov. 11, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at City Hall. For those who won’t be able to make it in person or want to enjoy the ceremony at home, it will also be livestreamed.
In addition to the ceremony, there are a number of other ways to commemorate the day listed on Edmonton’s website. No matter how you’re looking to spend Remembrance Day, there are options out there for everyone.
