We’ve got great news for Edmonton’s art lovers! After an extended hiatus, the Art Gallery of Alberta is officially reopening next week! Ready to head down there? Here’s what you need to know.

Back in December of last year, the Art Gallery opted to close the gallery for in-person visits in light of Alberta’s public health restrictions. That was originally meant to last 4 weeks. Instead, we’ve been waiting for around 6 months.

And while the AGA has done a fantastic job with their virtual events in the meanwhile, we’ve been itching to look at some art in person once more. There will be 4 new exhibitions to check out. These range from a survey of a well-known landscape architect, to a showcase of Edmonton’s visual arts scene. In short? There’s something for all kinds of art fans!

That’s not even the best part, either. While the gallery will only be open to members the first day back, on the second day they’ll be offering free admission to the public to come check it out! You’ll need to pre-book your visit, so act fast, folks.

And, even if you don’t get back that day, don’t worry! The gallery will be open every week afterwards from Thursday to Sunday. Art lovers in the city, rejoice, you’ve got something to check out once more!
