The high-speed Cascadia train is being considered once again

We know that travel might not be the first thing on your mind these days. Or maybe it is due to how long you’ve been cooped up at home. But either way, you might have heard about a proposed high-speed Cascadia train. And well folks, you’re about to hear all about it again.

That’s because Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia are seriously looking at how a high-speed train could benefit the Cascadia region. After all, there is a lot of travel and business done between these states and provinces. Not to mention, being able to hop on a quick train would be a lot more enjoyable than a bus ride or waiting for hours at the airport.

This proposed new train would run 12 round-trips daily between Portland and Vancouver, BC. And we have to say that we are pretty excited by the prospect of this. However, governments are taking a second look due to the estimated $24 billion to $42 billion price tag. And we can certainly understand why that’s a deterrent.

So while train ridership has fallen during the pandemic, we think the high-speed Cascadia train would be an excellent addition to the west coast. After all, it would open doors for more modes of transportation. And it would move away from environmentally detrimental modes of travel like airplanes. Exciting stuff huh?
