If you’re planning on buying a Christmas tree this year, don’t head to your local nursery just yet. Because you can actually cut down your own tree! And while we know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, it will certainly make for an unforgettable holiday experience.

Now before you go cutting down any old tree, there are some things you should know. The first thing is that you’ll have to head to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. And secondly, you’ll need to get a permit. But that special little permit also happens to give you the exact areas you can tree hunt and the size specifications for what you’re allowed to take home.
