The first annual Toronto Carnival Food Truck Festival is hitting the city this summer

Toronto Caribbean Carnival may have had to cancel their regularly scheduled programming this year thanks to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a party. The festival took to social media today to officially announce the launch of new way to celebrate. Instead of the Grand Parade, folks get to attend the weekend-long Toronto Carnival Food Truck Festival this year! We’re excited already!

Slated to hit Toronto during the final week of July, the Toronto Carnival Food Truck Festival will be bringing delicious Caribbean flavours to the city. Folks can stop by for a culinary experience featuring eats from some of their favourite local vendors. At the moment, the event is likely to be in drive-thru from, but it may switch to in-person depending on restrictions later in the summer. While you eat, tune into a live broadcast, produced by the Toronto Carnival with exceptional entertainment.

Of course, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival has a long history within the city. It was first launched way back in 1967 under the name Caribana. Since then, it’s grown into a staple Toronto event. It typically draws in crowds in the millions, with folks attending from all over in traditional costumes each summer. Last year, the festival was forced to go online, with virtual events and performances streamed across the city. Along with the food trucks, there will also be a number of virtual events taking place this year, including the Carnival Eats Passport and Emancipation Day 2021.
