This much-awaited Italian restaurant with farmhouse vibes in Vancouver is finally open

You know that barn-like building on 10th Ave that’s been attracting a lot of attention for months? The one with a beautiful farm-inspired mural on the side? The very same one we’ve been waiting to set foot inside all along? It’s now open. Vancouverites meet The Farmhouse, YVR’s newest Italian eatery!

After a year and a half in the making, Viaggio Hospitality Group’s latest offering finally opened doors to the public on November 23rd, 2022. And honestly, it was worth the wait.

True to its name (and its exterior) the inside of the restaurant has a simple, rustic vibe. It’s the kind of casual luxury that gives you an elevated dining experience but in a comfortable, homey ambience.

If the ambience doesn’t get you in your comfort zone, Executive Chef & General Manager, Curtis Luk’s friendly convo will. The man likes to welcome his guests and very warmly so!

Coming to the highlight of the restaurant, aka, the food. Head Chef Laura Messinger’s farm-to-table menu boasts authentic Northern Italian cuisine with antipasti, mains and desserts.

You’ll find some seriously craveable starters including Affettati Misti (a curated meat selection), Roasted Bone Marrow and Formaggi (local and Italian cheeses). And a decent spread of mains. Our Picks: Spaghetti Con Le Cozze (red sauce spaghetti), Oyster Mushroom Piccata and Farmhouse Half Roasted Chicken.

As for the desserts, they are straight-up heavenly, especially the Italian classic, Tiramisu. It was to die for. As was the dessert-wine combo of ‘Hart Fortified’ and Merlot.

Talking of wines, Assistant General Manager & Sommelier, Holly King’s curation of wine is splendid. No matter your order, she has the perfect match for you.

Long story short, The Farmhouse is not a mere Italian restaurant, but a whole dining experience. One that every Vancouverite needs to experience, foodie or not.
