The Canadian Screen Awards dropped their nominations this week, with some exciting nods on the lineup. Given that this is basically the True North version of the Oscars, to be recognized is a pretty darn big deal. So who was given the amazing honour? Let us break it down.

For the third year in a row, Schitt’s Creek leads the pack. After their history-making Emmy sweep, we can’t say we’re surprised. The hit comedy pulled in a whopping 22 nominations, being recognized for everything from their incredible cast, to their production design, to their picture editing, and more.

Other top-notch series include Workin’ Moms and Kim’s Convenience, who pulled in 11 nominations each. Plus, dramatic standouts like Blood Quantum, the zombie-feature that received 10 nominations. Or CBC’s Trickster and CTV’s Cardinal, who tied for second-highest TV nominations at 15 each.

Overall, it looks like it’ll be a crazy exciting event for the Canadian film and TV industry. The ceremony will be taking place over a few days, being broadcast online from May 17th-20th.
