From comedy to our hearts, Betty White was a queen of many roles, hobbies, causes, and professions. However, it seems that it was her work with animal shelters and fur-friendly charities, that really stood out to her fans.

In the week since she passed away, the #BettyWhiteChallenge has been brought to life by those who love our four-legged counterparts and wish to see them thrive and be taken care of.

All things considered, it was only a matter of time before Alberta’s organizations got involved and with acknowledgment by the Calgary Humane Society, AARCS, The Edmonton Humane Society, and Edmonton Animal Rescue – love has started to pour in on behalf of the late, great icon.

So what is the Betty White Challenge, exactly?

Well, in hopes of raising money for those who care and heal animals across North America, the BWC calls for pet parents, friends, and businesses to donate at least $5 to their local shelter before or on January 17th, 2022 – the date which would have been the actresses 100th birthday.

“I just don’t know how I would have lived without animals around me. I’m fascinated by them – both domestic pets and the wild community,” she once told Fox News..

“They just are the most interesting things in the world to me, and it’s made such a difference in my lifetime,”

Participating, as we mentioned earlier is incredibly easy and if you’re able and feel like it’s worth it, below are just a few places in Alberta where you can donate.

White has been quoted praising charities and posting about her love and work with animals for years, so this is the perfect way to celebrate a life well-lived. Of course, if you can’t donate, don’t be hard on yourself. Instead, consider volunteering your time or just share a donation link on your socials. Money helps, but so do actions!
