We’re in for one heck of an eventful summer, Toronto! A street-wide celebration called The Bentway Block Party has been set for this August, joining the many other exciting events you’ll want to add to your calendar in the coming months.
The event is described as a “celebratory street party across The Bentway site, featuring performances, music, street food and drink, family-friendly workshops, fashion shows, and more.”
It’s one of many events announced by The Bentway this week as part of its spring and summer programming called STREET, which will be taking place all over the city.

Starting on May 26, The Bentway will bring free art installations, performances, and celebrations to Torontoās shared roadways, sidewalks, and public spaces.
One of the art installations, called PARADE by Mimi Lien, will be a motorised conveyor belt suspended in the air under the Gardiner Expressway.
Torontonians will also witness dancing in the streets as part of a showcase called Bodies in Urban Spaces by Willi Dorner.
“Passersby will witness a colourfully-clad group of local dancers use their bodies to explore and respond to urban architecture all along Torontoās streets,” the description says.

Other performances include Nightwalks with Teenagers, And With, and WEEPING CONCRETE, which will feature “a trio of performers across two towering scaffolds,” according to the description.
Needless to say, there will be plenty to see and do at The Bentway and around the city starting this spring. And we can’t think of a better grand finale to the excitement than a massive free block party!
