The barge that washed-up at Sunset Beach will be moved this weekend

Vancouver might just be the barge capital of the world. But, maybe not for the right reasons. First the McBarge, and now the massive barge that washed up on Sunset Beach this past week and was caught on video.

However, that washed-up barge is going away this Sunday, so you only have a few more days to check it out in person.

In case you somehow missed it, a massive barge got carried away by a storm on Monday and found its way down False Creek. While luckily it didn’t collide with the bridge, it has been stranded at Sunset Beach ever since. It’s really a sight as well. Just a giant, red ugly barge at one of the city’s most beautiful beaches.

A new art fair with some wild exhibits set to arrive on the North Shore

At 8 a.m. on Sunday, tugboats from Transport Canada will pull the barge away. Where it goes after that? Who knows. Maybe a nice farm out in the country to play with other barges. This whole situation is just further proof, we really are living in wild times.

And this wasn’t even the only attempt to move the massive boat. On Tuesday there was an unsuccessful attempt to get it floating again. Hey, at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!

But, if you want to check out the boat, be sure you get out before Sunday morning. We know we will be. Still, it’s always sad to see a barge leave our beautiful waterfront.
