Come August 4th, King Street West in DT Kitchener is going to be one of the most lit spots in GTHA. A-List artists, live music, great grubs and drinks and a high-energy vibe are coming to DT Kitchener as the fan-fave TD Kitchener Blues Festival makes a grand return.
After being cancelled for two years and organized in a restricted, indoor environment in 2021, the festival is back this year in full swing. And to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the fest has gone bigger and better than ever.
Going heavy on Canadian talent this year, the fest has managed to bring together the best of blues. Expect names like Coco Montoya, Ronnie Baker Brooks, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and David Wilcox. And also genre-stretching artists like Headstones, The New Pornographers, JJ Wilde, Sloan and Western Swing Authority. You can check out the full lineup here.
Headlining the artists is the iconic Sam Roberts Band performing at the fest’s opening night fundraiser concert at the Victoria Park Stage. Hamilton-based duo White Horse will open for the band.
The fundraiser is the only ticketed event in the otherwise free fest. And tickets are available online at Ticketscene.ca and in-person at Encore Records.
In addition to the three main stages out front, the festival is also offering what they call the 12 Bar Blues. You can catch local blues artists performing live at bars and clubs surrounding the main stages.
As if their mix of artists wasn’t proof enough that there’s something for everyone, there will also be children’s music and blues workshops.
To end the fest on a super high note, the final act will be performed by The Fabulous Thunderbirds at the YNC stage.
So, gear up for four days of incredible tunes and great times. We’ll see you there!
