Edmonton’s epic winter festival just released its lineup with over 100 talented artists

Winterruption just released its massive lineup for this upcoming year’s annual festival, featuring loads of great artists, comedians, drag queens, and more.

Next January, Winterruption will be taking over downtown Edmonton with five whole days of endless entertainment. According to its website, this premier multi-venue music and arts festival started in 2019. Its goal is to provide an inclusive, diverse, and representative showcase of music, drag, and comedy during the winter season, and it’s done that successfully for over five years.

Next year, even more thrilling concerts and exciting community events will hit the downtown core, and we can’t wait.

Who’s on the lineup for Winterruption 2027?

This October, Winterruption released the lineup, as well as dates for the festival: Wednesday, Jan. 20, to Sunday, Jan. 24.

Headliners include Bill Callahan, Clarion, Grouper, Habibi, Cola, Deadbolt, Parlor Greens, TRAITRS, and local legends Shout Out Out Out Out, who are performing their first show in nearly eight years. In addition to these musicians, featured comedians and drag artists will take the stage, including radio host Dave Hill and Canadian legend Brooke Lynn Hytes.

Some other names include:

  • Scenic Route to Alaska
  • Bodywash
  • Caylie G
  • Birds Bear Arms
  • Gizmo
  • Handsome Tiger

For the full lineup of musicians, comedians, drag artists, and other talents performing at Winterruption this year, you can check the festival’s website online for all the details.

The exact schedule, including free events at City Hall and more, will be released soon.

How much are tickets?

Tickets and festival passes are already available for purchase online, having been released on Oct. 12.

Festival wristbands, which allow access to all venues hosting Winterruption 2027 events, are already almost completely sold out. Last-chance wristbands are still available for $164.42 per person, and VIP access wristbands (which include skip-the-line access and commemorative goodies) are also available for $272.42 per person.

These wristbands are clutch because each venue reserves space for wristband holders (subject to the venue’s capacity). According to its website, Winterruption holds back 25 to 30 per cent of a venue’s capacity for wristband holders (though, in smaller venues, wristband holders are encouraged to arrive early).

For tickets to specific shows, prices vary by artist. There are also a select number of free shows to attend, with free attendance subject to capacity.

Whether you’re looking for a headbanging concert or an intimate indie show, Winterruption is absolutely going to deliver next season. So, if you’re looking for an exciting way to kick off 2027, you’ll definitely want to check out this festival.
