As July quickly approaches, an experience like no other is about to hit the City of Surrey. We’re talking about Surrey Canada Day, of course. After a 2-year hiatus, Canada Day 2022 is coming back revamped, with a strong focus on bringing our community together. Features include an expanded Indigenous Village,, Cultural Sharing with Land-Based Nations and a Residential School Survivor Honoring Ceremony.
The City of Surrey is located on the unceded territories of the Salish Peoples, including the Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo land-based nations. And so, the sentiment of the festivities this year is reconciliation and creating hope for the future.
Starting at 10 AM on July 1st, the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre will turn into a hub of festivities with a major community festival vibe. Expect amusement rides,, food trucks, local exhibitors, a zip line, kid’s zone, sporting activities, a Summer Market and a ton of performances headlined by Juno award-winning group Arkells, Shawnee Kish and Haviah Mighty.
And because no Canada Day celebration is ever complete without bright and beautiful fireworks, the evening will conclude with the iconic glowing sky.
We haven’t even told you the best part yet. As always, these festivities come with no charge whatsoever. Admission is free!
So, make sure to grab the whole fam and hit the amphitheatre on Friday, July 1st. Happy Canada Day in advance!
