Porter launches non-stop flights from Edmonton to hot spots in Mexico and the U.S.

Porter Airlines just announced it’d be launching four new sunny-destination routes from Edmonton, including the airline’s first international flights from Alberta.

Ahead of the winter season, Porter Airlines is taking off with new non-stop seasonal routes from Edmonton to four popular sunny spots. The best part? Travellers can check out some of these new routes as soon as today, with all four routes rolling out this November.

“Porter’s presence in Edmonton is growing, along with our expanding North American network,” Andrew Pierce, Porter’s vice president of network planning and reporting, said in a press release. “By introducing non-stop flights to popular vacation destinations in Mexico and the U.S., we are giving local travellers even more options and the benefit of Porter’s distinct elevated comfort for their winter getaways.”

What are the four new routes from Edmonton?

According to Porter Airlines, all four new routes from the Edmonton International Airport will start this November, including:

  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR) launched yesterday, Nov. 3 (peak flight frequency will be three times per week)
    • Porter has also just launched vacation packages from Puerto Vallarta. Scheduling details and booking information can be found on the airline’s website.
  • Phoenix (PHX) launches Friday, Nov. 6 (peak flight frequency will be daily)
  • Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) launches Monday, Nov. 16 (peak flight frequency will be four times per week)
  • Las Vegas (LAS) launches Monday, Nov. 16 (peak flight frequency will be four times per week)

All of these routes will be operated on the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. These will feature Porter’s economy experience, meaning:

  • No middle seats
  • Complimentary wine and beer served in real glassware
  • Premium snacks
  • Free Wi-Fi for all passengers

Guests will also be able to check out the fresh meals on board, included in PorterReserve or available for purchase with PorterClassic bookings. For those interested, you can find all the food and drink details on the airline’s website.

“Adding four new routes in a single month is a significant commitment to our market and a clear demonstration of confidence in the Edmonton region. We thank Porter for continuing to invest in Edmonton and look forward to the opportunities ahead,” thanked James Jackson, Edmonton International Airport’s vice president of business and air service development, in a press release.
