Prime hiking conditions will come and go in a flash so while you still have time to explore Wild Rose Country’s most beautiful, we’d recommend visiting the Alberta Rocky Mountains, more specifically, Sundance Canyon.

Located only minutes from Banff, this spectacular destination offers magnificent views and is a spectacular excuse to get out of town this fall.

To get there, hit the Cave and Basin Historical Site and follow the trail well beyond the springs.

“Within a few minutes, views open up to a mountain panorama across the Bow River,” Parks Canada explains on their website.

Along the way, you’ll also see a water-filled canyon, trees and if you’re lucky, wildlife – though you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled!

So, how long will it take you to complete?

According to Travel Alberta, this hike is 11 km round-trip, though you can really choose your own adventure.

If you prefer to bike or rollerblade and don’t mind missing out on some of the beauty, just enjoy the first 4 kilometres of the paved pathway, otherwise, turn back whenever you feel it’s the right time.

There’s plenty to see and there’s a lot of fresh air to be inhaled so take your time and have fun with it! You won’t regret checking it out.
