Seattle and Washington are back on the map for skiing this year. We just ranked as one of the best urban ski destinations and now one of our very own local mountain resorts has ranked among the best in the nation. Ready to hit the slopes this winter? Let’s see which local spot made the cut.

Washington has many notable ski resorts but Suncadia Resort is a bit different as it’s not your traditional resort. It doesn’t have the large mountains of somewhere like Snoqualmie but it has many more activities for non-skiers. This makes it a great winter destination for the whole family.

Suncadia Resort was recognized by U.S. News as one of the 30 top mountain resorts in the US. The ranking does not number winners but overall, Suncadia ranks 33rd in Best Washington Hotels, 6th in Best Washington Resorts, 1168th in Best USA Hotels and 400th in Best USA Resorts, according to U.S. News.

Notable aspects of the resort include the fact that it’s set on more than 6,000 forested acres and is only 85 miles southeast of Seattle or around an hour and twenty minutes drive. Once there you’ll be able to enjoy activities like cross-country skiing, ice skating, biking, archery, and even ax throwing.

It also happens to be home to over 40 miles of hiking trails and a 36-hole golf course. All of which happen to be next to the 3.8 million-acre Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Guests can even sip wine at nearby wineries or relax at the spa onsite. Plus accommodations vary greatly, ranging from mountain-influenced rooms at the inn to luxury vacation homes.

If you’re looking to do something a little different this year, Suncadia might just be worth adding to your plans.
